  • Year: 2019/2020
  • Area: 1050m²
  • Skate design: Pivotech
  • Construction: Nord & Concrete Proof

Skatepark is located in a park south of Arena Grosvad. Since there are often clashes between skaters and kickbikers, municipality wanted us to make two separate areas; bigger skatepark and smaller kickbike/beginner area. The solution was very appreciated after completion both from users as well as municipality. The skatepark layout is adapted to an existing sloping terrain and has sitting areas along the main entrance. The skatepark area features a classic kidney bowl that sits on the same level as the entrance while the rest of the park is designed as a flow/street area that is pushed down on the south edge in order to adjust to the terrain.  Around the skatepark there is green space with new planted trees that blend together into the surrounding city park which became a generation park with a lot of other activities such as outdoor gym, playground etc.

The skatepark involves functions for both beginners and more experienced skaters as well as other wheel sport users It is designed as two separate areas and is adapted to the surrounding terrain and existing trees. First area is designed as a flow area ending with an open bowl with two ends merged together with a spine. The flow area is pushed into the existing hill which is resembled in the shape of a letter C. Along the outer edge of the flow part runs a paved strip with “relaxation pockets” furnished with benches for relaxation that offer a good overview over the park. Second area is designed as a street line that is connected to the flow area on the south and then continues to the east side with platform featuring variety of street element. There is also public lighting allowing the use in the evening hours. Local action sport community also demanded a place for a container where they can store all the equipment for their daily activities such as skate school etc.

Gällivare

  • Year: 2018/2019
  • Area: 1000m²
  • Skate design: Pivotech

Skatepark consists of a bowl area that flows seamlessly into a street/flow area. The main entrance to the park is situated in the north-west part with seating area and small asphalt kickbike area. Landscape of the skatepark is adapted to an existing terrain. The bowl is placed on higher terrain towards the ice hall and is pushed in from the outer edge allowing placement of street elements (flatbar, slappy curb and bank hip…). On the other side of the bowl the existing terrain was lower which allowed a long bank section (hubba ledge, handrail, bank to curb, wallride…). On the south-east side of the park the height difference between flow area and the path is solved with a staircase along the edge that enables skateboarding also from the entrance to the Sjöparken.

Farsø

  • Location: Farsø, Denmark
  • Year: 2019
  • Area: 400m²
  • Skate design: Pivotech
  • Construction: ENR
  • Client/Developer: Vesthimmerlands Municipality

Main focus in designing the skatepark in Farsø was to ensure safe use for multiple users as well as allowing them to use the skatepark at the same time. Since the site specifications and limited size we came up with a solution to create a pump track like feature around the outer edge of the skatepark which becomes a narrow strip with street obstacles on the north side that is facing the facade of the swimming hall where the main entrance and hang out area are located. Skatepark is pushed down on the north edge in order to get more skate functions (china bank) as well as creating a clear edge between areas. In the center we have placed a bowl with two depths that is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced skaters and other wheel sports users.

Stavanger

  • Location: Tasta, Stavanger, Norway
  • Year: 2012-2018
  • Area: 7000m²
  • Skate design: Pivotech
  • Construction: Betongpark, Stangeland Maskin
  • Client/Developer: Stavanger Municipality

Already in 2012 Pivotech was contacted to study Tasta and how a new skatepark could be implemented. The existing skatepark in wood was in very poor condition and in terms of skateboarding it felt outdated. Pivotech’s role involved responsibility over the entire design and construction phases, as well as being municipal advisers during monitoring and inspection phases.

Tasta is now by far the largest and most versatile skatepark in Norway. The skatepark includes large street, bowl and flow areas for all levels of skaters. The design integrates the skatepark with green areas in and around the park, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and a variety of platforms for spectators that enable large events to be held here. In 2016, Tasta Skatepark hosted the Norwegian Championships of skateboarding.

The second stage includes a noise barrier, a service building with viewpoints and a green roof, a street plaza and a café area. The skatepark is also the largest in Scandinavia, totaling nearly 7000m².
