There is a heavy progression of street culture and action sports in Greenland. Because of long winters, winter sports naturally makes up for a large part of that scene and the numbers of active skateboarders and BMX are steadily rising. Together with the association Urban Greenland, we created the first full scale skatepark in Greenland, located in the capital, Nuuk. The skatepark, which covers 500 m2, is an integrated part of the schoolyard for the new school in Qinngorput. Local engagement has been a huge part of the project, from reviewing design ideas to actually welding and manufacturing several elements found throughout the skatepark.

Klosterpark

The skatepark in Kolding, Klosterparken, has the base shape of a curved and conical wedge, which was planned out on two separate height levels. The top level features classical street elements and the lower level offers more flowy high speed features. Obstacles can be used individually but when the skateboarder’s takes advantage of the whole park and its long lines, the skatepark comes to its proper right.

Götene

The rather uniquely shaped Götene skatepark is a 3, 5 meters wide, yellow stained concrete, track meandering through a grass field. The track is flexible and can be crossed in several ways, allowing varied skateboarding like long lines or sessions at one spot. The skatepark is perfect for beginners, but also offers challenges for more advanced skateboarders.

Gnosjö

A local association, enthusiasts and the municipality got together and worked hard to finance the planning and construction of this 500m² skatepark near the center of town. The skatepark is the first of many facilities that together will form a new area for recreation and spontaneous sports in Gnosjö. The park consists of a distinctive bowl, along with a street/flow-track that surrounds a hang-out area in the middle of the park.

Stenungsund

Stenungsund skatepark was established in collaboration with the local group of skaters. The vision and the most important thing for the design was to raise desire to skate, on an everyday basis. The local skaters preferred a smaller skatepark with unique features rather than a large-scale park for big competitions.

The skatepark design took off from a geometrical shape, a hexagon that was multiplied and combined in numerous variations. The concept resulted in many multi directional obstacles, which combined with an open space lead to a unique skatepark. The whole site was completed with good areas for spectators, wild grass plantations and hang-out spots.

Ingared

Ingared Skatepark is built on what used to be the abandoned tennis court where founder of Pivotech, Markus, and his brother Lukas started skateboarding and building ramps 20 years ago.

Today, the skatepark is a 350m² flowpark, filled with many small obstacles -making the park both  challenging for beginners and great fun for experienced skateboarders. The Skatepark is beautifully situated by a lake so don’t forget your swimwear.

Höganäs

Höganäs Skatepark is a good example of how a skatepark can be integrated with its surroundings to benefit both skateboarders and other users. The skatepark is divided into bowl and flow-areas that are held together by street-obstacles on an open, asphalt space.

The red bowl is unique and has, as far as we know, never been built before. We call it “the Swedish bowl”, due to the radius being more reminiscent of a Swedish mini ramp than an American pool.

Hässleholm

Hässleholm skatepark is centrally located, situated in the city park of the town. The skatepark offers a street area which is, due to the use of materials like steel and bricks, characteristic and authentic to the industrial town Hässleholm. The street area is surrounded by transitions and connected to an open bowl/mini ramp. Many of the transitions are constructed as free cantilevers which gives the skatepark a light impression rather than the regular heavy impression of concrete.

Trelleborg

Trelleborg was one of the first cities in Skåne to complete a concrete skatepark. Located in the previous Folkets Park, the location is close to the central city. The skatepark is 500 m2 and holds a bowl connected to an area with street/flow obstacles. Alongside the skatepark, there is a path with several skateable functions.

Halmstad

• Location: Halmstad, Sweden

Halmstad Skatepark is one of the main features of the activity park next to Halmstad Arena. The skatepark contains a big street plaza and Sweden’s largest enclosed bowl. Parallel to the skatepark is a pedestrian- and bicycle track which is well integrated thanks to several interesting skate functions along its full stretch. To break up the 2000 m2 of grey concrete, green pockets with plants and grass were placed throughout the park. Yellow pigmented and uniquely shaped elements, in combination with material diversity, such as bricks, rocks and Corten steel, creates the skatepark’s singular identity.
