Odense

  • Location: Odense, Denmark
  • Year: 2019/2020
  • Area: 150m²
  • Skate design: Pivotech & SNE architects
  • Construction: Marius Pedersen
  • Client/Developer: Odense Municipality

We have teamed up with SNE architects in 2019 to make a design proposal for street plaza in Odense. The proposal was well accepted but because of the funding issues, municipality decided to do the project in several phases. Therefore only bowl has been built in 2020. The bowl around which will be street plaza in the future, is located in a newly redeveloped area of the city that used to be industrial site so there was a lot of polluted soil that had to be removed. Together with the bowl we have designed simple paved entrance with seating area. The bowl is equipped with lights so can be used also in the evening hours. Around the bowl there is a big green area with rocks from the surroundings that can be used as a relaxation area. The border of the future skate plaza has plantation areas that will form a green boarder.

Farsø

  • Location: Farsø, Denmark
  • Year: 2019
  • Area: 400m²
  • Skate design: Pivotech
  • Construction: ENR
  • Client/Developer: Vesthimmerlands Municipality

Main focus in designing the skatepark in Farsø was to ensure safe use for multiple users as well as allowing them to use the skatepark at the same time. Since the site specifications and limited size we came up with a solution to create a pump track like feature around the outer edge of the skatepark which becomes a narrow strip with street obstacles on the north side that is facing the facade of the swimming hall where the main entrance and hang out area are located. Skatepark is pushed down on the north edge in order to get more skate functions (china bank) as well as creating a clear edge between areas. In the center we have placed a bowl with two depths that is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced skaters and other wheel sports users.

Sävsjö

  • Skate design: Pivotech

  • Client/Developer: IOGT-NTO Sävsjö

The skatepark in Savjsö is an exiting addition to the public spaces for youth in this small Swedish town. We have been contacted by IOGT-NTO, a Swedish organization that promotes healthy lifestyle to make a public skatepark on their backyard. Main feature of the skatepark is a flow bowl with shallow and deep end and a small street area. The platform around the bowl has few skate obstacles such as rooftop, bank hip and speed bump which makes a possible lines around the park. The skatepark in Savsjö is a perfect starting ground for kids interested in wheel sports, but nonetheless offers challenges for more experienced users as well. After completion the skatepark has been greatly accepted by the local community.

The skatepark is situated by the entrance of Remiseparken which has been designed as the “play park” for children and youth in Copenhagen and is the only park of such kind in the city. The original design for the skatepark was done by SNE Architects. Our task was to refine the design and complete the construction documentation needed to complete the project. The design is quite unique in geometry since the skatepark is adapted to a steep terrain. Pigmented concrete and blended in seating areas adds to the uniqueness of the skatepark. Key features of the skatepark are a blended in bowl with surrounding flow area and a fully skateable decks around the entire park.
